Education and Training (System Reform) Bill, Amendment Paper 583 that was in Parliament. Sections 5F and 51A would allow the Ministry of Education to create new rules in the form of regulations that home educating families must follow in order to keep their homeschooling exemption. There is currently no limitation on what rules can be created and no requirement for consultation. This has the potential to change home education in New Zealand forever. NCHENZ took action and with the support of homeschoolers all over the country we were successful in having Amendment Paper 583 dismissed completely.
