FIRE SAFETY

Looking for a practical, family-friendly way to teach your children about fire safety?

Developed by Fire and Emergency New Zealand, Get Firewise is a free programme designed to help kids in years one and two level to understand what to do in a fire emergency through stories, hands-on activities, and real-life scenarios that make learning stick.

It’s simple, engaging, and built for flexible learning at home. Whether you’re drawing up a home escape plan together or acting out what to do when the smoke alarm goes off, Get Firewise turns important safety lessons into memorable moments.

You can explore the programme and its resources on the Get Firewise website. Each kit includes educator resources. The kit includes 30 Homework books and sticker sets, suitable for use with multiple children. These must be ordered as a complete set as individual items aren’t available separately. We ask that you share a kit with other homeschool groups.

If you discover a fire, get out, stay out, and call 111 immediately. Do not attempt to fight the fire yourself.
