Have your voice heard!

Ways you can have your voice heard:

  • Email the Minister of Education and MPs using the template emails below.

  • Call your local MPs and go and meet with them - show them what real homeschoolers look like, and engage in polite, constructive conversation with them. Most especially, if Erica Stanford is your local MP, I would encourage you to call her office, emphasise that you are local, and want to meet with your MP. This is also a great learning opportunity for your children!

  • Check your and other key MP's (particularly party leaders) social media for any public engagements near you they may have in the next week or so, and attend if at all possible. Again, show them real homeschoolers, and engage constructively with them.

To the Minister of Education

Subject: Send Amendment 583 Sections 5F and 51A to Select

Committee for consultation

Dear Minister Stanford

I/we urge you to please send Amendments 5F and 51A of Amendment 583 to the Select Committee so that proper consultation can occur before it is passed into law. These amendments will significantly affect all home educating families, and public consultation should be conducted first. This is only reasonable and what should be normal democratic process.

Thank you for considering my/our email.

Subject: Send Amendment 583 Sections 5F and 51A to Select Committee for

consultation

Dear (insert name)

As you are likely aware, there is considerable concern about the way in which the Minister of Education introduced the above Amendments into the Education and

Training (System Reform) Amendment Bill after the Select Committee process had concluded, avoiding any opportunity for public consultation on these amendments, which will profoundly affect all home educators now and into the future.

These amendments will significantly affect all home educating families, and public consultation should be conducted first. This is only reasonable and what should be normal democratic process.

I/we are writing to ask that you please urge the Minister to refer these amendments to the Select Committee so that proper consultation can occur, or if she will not do so, vote to support a motion to refer them.

Thank you for considering my email, and for your support in this matter.

Respectfully
