WUSHKA

Wushka is an online, digital reading program for beginning to fluent readers. It offers a Levelled Library with 688 digital readers, and a Decodable Library with 408 digital readers. Support materials are provided for every reader including online comprehension quizzes, printable lesson plans, literacy activities, blackline masters, sequencing templates, discussion cards and printable take-home books, both complete and wordless. Assessment materials are also provided in the form of reading records.  This program is so much more than ‘just digital early readers’! 

Each subscription includes an enrolment to Wushka Plus, with the parent or caregiver as ‘the teacher’ of their ‘class’.  This gives each family full control of their subscription, with full access to both the Levelled and Decodable Library, and all the activities, and the parent/teacher has the full ability to plan each child’s individual reading/activity program. 

The 2024 subscription starts 1st Feb 2024, and will expire on 15th January 2025.

The Wushka Levels are based on the Ready to Read Colour Wheel system developed by the
NZ Ministry of Education and Learning Media

• Wushka is suitable for all students up to Year 6
• Wushka is currently available only in public schools 

PRICING

• $28 per student, if you join to start on 1st February or any time
  after that date in Term 1
• $23 per student, if you join to start at the beginning of Term 2 or any time
  during Term 2
• $18 per student, if you join to start at the beginning of Term 3 or any time
  during Term 3
• $12 per student, if you join to start at the beginning of Term 4 or any time
  during Term 4

ENROLMENT PROCESS
Complete the enrolment form below and then make payment (account details are below). Payment is required by one week prior to start date.  Non-payment means you are not enrolled in this program.

To take up this offer you must be a member of NCHENZ and remain a member for the duration of this subscription period. Membership is free and very easy to complete, go to our Family Membership form. If you don’t know your NCHENZ membership number click here to request it. Please wait until you have your membership number before subscribing and ensure you use your membership number, your child’s last name, and “wushka” as the reference when making payment. The Wushka subscription can only be used for a child who has a current Exemption Certificate from the Ministry of Education, or whose application for an exemption is in progress.  For any queries, please email wushka@nchenz.org.nz

You can do one payment for all of the children you are enrolling in this program.  Please do separate payments for different programs.  

Note, if you make a manual over-the-counter deposit at the bank then please add an additional $3 as this is what the bank charges NCHENZ.

REFUNDS
The NCHENZ policy is not to give refunds if you change your mind after making payment unless there are exceptional circumstances. If you feel you have exceptional reasons for requesting a refund, please write to the NCHENZ Committee at offers@nchenz.org.nz within seven days of receiving your log in details and they will consider your request. After seven days it is unlikely that a refund will be approved because NCHENZ will have paid the supplier for your subscription. In the case where a refund is approved, the funds will be paid to the original payer only and a NZ bank account number must be provided. An administration fee of $6/subscription will be deducted from all refunds.

WHO ADMINISTERS THIS PROGRAM:

Gin Taylor manages this program. She is a homeschooling mum in Taupo who volunteers on the NCHENZ Executive Committee. She is not employed by Wushka. Every single member of the committee is a volunteer. They all have lives outside of the committee, they all have children they homeschool. Some of the Committee members volunteer within their communities, some have part time jobs or work from home. Be kind to these people, they do an amazing job for all New Zealand home educators.
