Ken and I have always been passionate about children learning, to reach their full potential and destiny, regardless of their ability and 'label'. NUMICON is an amazing programme that is well-suited for all learners, but especially for those who need to be able to see and touch and experience what you're talking about. Maths is so abstract, that for most kids it's a challenge. How can you eat a 'five' or take a 'seven' for a walk? Home school families so love this programme- see their comments on the website! The equipment can be used for children from preschoolers through to Year 10 algebra! What an investment! It is very precise- no mistakes and is based on pattern, not just the length of the piece of plastic. The programme is based on four learning strengths: Do it, talk about it, think about and record what you have done! EASY! Even for the children who can't speak- they can sign and use the flashcards that accompany the teaching guides. Training does make a difference to the effective use of the programme, but it isn't essential. This programme is research-based and written by practitioners who love seeing the 'lights' go on in children's understanding.
