A bit late if submissions closed six days ago, isn’t it? It really seems unfair that her reply didn’t give anyone enough time to make a submission on the issue to the correct people. I do wonder if she thought about that at all.
Sounds to me like she is saying that an employed parent who is bringing in regular income is of more value to a child’s wellbeing than a parent committed to home educating their children.
Sad to say but to many ‘professionals’ believe that homeschooling is a luxury lifestyle choice and as such is not considered a worthwhile or beneficial undertaking as they believe the schools are perfectly suited to providing ALL children with a quality education. Based on Nationals track record in caring for families, since the last elections I have sincere concerns that our voices are not really being heard and that or wants, needs and opinions are just being swept under the carpet.
I think when working out the work test obligations that they need to take into account the financial aspects of homeschooling. I am not sure of the exact figures but I bellieve that for every child that is homeschooled it saves the state a few thousond dollars as the homeschool allowance given to homeschooling families is way below what schools receive per child. The other factor to consider is the better educatiuonal outcomes for homeschoolers so the state will spend less on a homeschooler in the long run compared to a child who has gone through the state system.
